AFRIMA’s 23 Karat Gold Award Arrives Nigeria

The International Committee of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA has received the 23.9-Karat gold plated trophy on Friday in Lagos.
The coveted trophy was received by Rikki Stein, AFRIMA International Advisor.
The trophy, which was produced by an award trophy making company ‘Awards4u’ based in the United Kingdom, UK, was conceived and visualised by Mike Dada, AFRIMA executive producer and designed by Ademola Tajudeen, the Assistant Artistic Director of AFRIMA.
The award trophy is a blend of traditional and contemporary elements of music, the African Djembe drum and a microphone.
It went through series of technical processes for it to be realised. The first stage was the creation of a clay model of the trophy followed by moulds creation from which resin model was made.
After producing this, it was cleaned, smoothened and prepared for copper plating, polishing and finally deepened into 23.9-karat gold molten (hardened with nickel) with 99.58% gold concentration.
When this process was completed, the trophy was then mounted on a base and information plate was inscribed.

How to paint with your tongue

You can say Chinese artist, Han Xiaoming, has a great ‘taste’ in art – he actually uses his tongue as a brush to create paintings!
Luckily, he doesn’t use oil paints or acrylic, just sweetened food dye.
Xiaoming, 35, claims he came up with the technique while trying his hands at traditional Chinese sugar painting. The ancient art form involves the use of melted sugar to create figures such as dragons, monkeys, fish, dogs, birds and flowers.
Halfway through his work, however, sweet-toothed Xiaoming got hungry and decided to take a sip of the sugary paints used to paint the sugar artworks. He loved the taste so much that he finally ended up abandoning the paintbrush and continued to paint with his tongue. Over time, he completely switched to using his tongue as a tool for his art.

Free of Ebola But…

Nigeria continues to earn plaudits at home and abroad for its effort in eradicating the Ebola virus from its shores but the recent upsurge of  Lassa fever in the country calls for caution
Dr Idowu

For a country that had often been portrayed negatively in the foreign media it is understandable why many Nigerian government officials will continue to celebrate the accolades the country has been lavished with over its success in containing the Ebola virus. Even before October 20, when the World Health Organisation, WHO, officially declared Nigeria Ebola-free, the country had been praised at home and abroad by both ordinary people in the streets of Lagos and representatives of foreign governments and agencies alike.  But the seal of approval came on Monday, October 20 when Rui Gama Vaz, WHO representative, officially announced to the world that Nigeria had not only conquered Ebola, but had become a beacon of hope to the world.
“Nigeria is now free of Ebola, the virus is gone for now. The outbreak in Nigeria has been defeated. This is a spectacular success story that shows to the world that Ebola can be contained”, said Vaz.
