Jonathan Congratulates Buhari

It has been reported that President Goodluck Jonathan has called his major challenger and the likely-winner of the 2015 presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC to congratulate him.

According to a source, the president spoke with Muhammadu Buhari on the phone.

APC Wins In Oyo State

Muhammadu Buhari, APC presidential candidate has won in Oyo State. APC clinched 28 out of the 33 local government areas in the state, while PDP got 5.

Professor Ayobami Salami, deputy Vice-chancellor, OAU, the State Collation Officer said Buhari polled a total of 528,620 votes while President Goodluck Jonathan of PDP had 303,376.

APC Wins Ondo Presidential Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released the results of the presidential election in 18 Local Government Area, LGA’s in Ondo State.

According to a breakdown of the results, which was announced by Oyewole Olusola, INEC’s Returning Officer, the APC polled a total of 299,889 while the PDP polled 251,368 of the 561,056 total votes that were cast during the election.

Polls: Mixed Feelings Trail Deployment of Soldiers

The deployment of soldiers ahead of Saturday’s Presidential election is sparking mixed reactions among residents in Lagos.

While some residents see the deployment as a welcome development, others are lamenting that the roadblocks mounted by the soldiers on major roads have resulted to traffic gridlock, adding that their presence is intimidating.

Ondo Deputy Governor Gives Reasons for Defection from PDP to APC

Alli Olanusi, Ondo State deputy governor, who defected from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC has given reasons why he took the decision. The deputy governor who announced his defection in Akure, capital, early this morning, stated in a statement that he defected to chart a new course for majority of his followers who look up to him for direction.

The Ascon petrol Station at Lekki Phase 1, Lagos is currently on fire. Firemen are presently at the scene to stop the fire, which has spread to the Round-about and the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge.

Angelina Jolie has ovaries and fallopian tubes removed

Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie on Tuesday, March 24, disclosed that she has undergone more preventive surgery, having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in hopes of reducing her risk of cancer.

Writing in the New York Times, the Oscar-winning and philanthropist said that a recent blood test showed a possible early sign of cancer. She wasn't happy with the news, as she has already had a double mastectomy.

Germanwings Airbus A320 plane crash: 150 passengers and crew feared dead


 A320 plane was operated by Lufthansa’s budget airline Germanwings

An Airbus A320 airliner operated by the Germanwings airline travelling from Barcelona to Dusseldorf has crashed in the Alpes de Hautes provence in southern France.

The jet belongs to the German airline Germanwings, a subsidiary of Lufthansa.

All 144 passengers and six crew aboard the German Airbus A320 are believed to have died in the crash about 100 miles north of Nice.

Senate Confirms Obanikoro as Minister

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, March 11, confirmed Musiliu Obanikoro, as a federal minister, appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan, brushing aside allegations that Obanikoro played a key role in election fraud in Ekiti State.

Hausa youths attack Yoruba in Osun


Not less than five persons were inured on Wednesday, March 11 when some Hausa youths at Sabo area of Osogbo allegedly attacked some Yoruba living in their midst.


As reported in PUNCH, residents of the area told our correspondent that trouble started around 1am when some hoodlums, suspected to be of Hausa extraction, stormed residences of Yoruba in the area and attacked them.

Selma is the story of a movement, which chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights. The movie is an origin story of the Selma to Montgomery marches that caused controversy and made it acceptable for black people to vote. Selma stars David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King, Jr., Carmen Ejogo as his wife Coretta Scott King. The movie shows the period that the law was changed so that Black people were allowed to vote, and were encouraged with the false promise of a free mule and 40 acres of land as an apology for being kept as slaves for ages.
